Timber spacer
In the pile, two adjacent layers of wood should be evenly separated by spacers, forming a horizontal airflow channel at the height of the pile. In the middle of these passages, the drying medium and the surface of the wood carry out heat and moisture exchange that is conducive to the gradual drying of the wood.
The role of the spacer:
(1) The stack is stable in the width direction;
(2) Each layer of wood in the pile is clamped to each other to prevent or reduce warping and deformation of the wood;
(3) Create a horizontal air circulation channel between the upper and lower wood.
Spacer size:
Under normal circumstances, the forced circulation air drying room adopts 20-25mm thick spacers, and the natural circulation 25-35mm thick spacers. The cross-section of the spacer is generally square, and there are also rectangular cross-sections. The sawing size is 25mm*35mm, which is suitable for different situations. According to relevant data reports, due to the different thickness of the board, the air circulation speed on the surface of the required wood is different, and the thickness of the spacer is also different.
But in production practice, the width of the spacer is 35-45mm, and the thickness depends on the circulation speed of the drying medium in the forced circulation drying room and the natural circulation drying room. In the forced circulation wood drying room, the air velocity is large and regular, and a 25mm thick spacer is usually used; in the natural circulation drying room, in addition to the small and irregular air velocity in the drying room, the width of the wood should also be considered. For wide wood, the airflow channel between the upper and lower adjacent layers should be larger, that is, thicker spacers should be used. If the width of the wood does not exceed 200mm, regardless of the thickness, the 20mm thick spacer can be sawed. If the width of the wood exceeds 200mm, the section size of the spacer can be sawn into 40mm*40mm. If drying a small amount of wide wood, the 20mm thick spacers can be used overlapping.
The length of the spacer should be consistent with the width of the pile. The width of each spacer is required to be uniform, and the allowable error of the thickness between the spacers is 1-2mm.
In the production of spacers, they are repeatedly subjected to high temperature and high humidity. Therefore, the physical and mechanical properties of the spacer wood are required to be good, the material is uniform, the texture is straight, and it can be used for a long time.
