Attention during the wood drying process: When the wood is first put into the kiln, it is in a low-temperature preheating and humidification process. The dry bulb temperature for low-temperature preheating is generally within the range of 35-45 ℃.
In summer, if the moisture content of wood is above 50%, the dry bulb temperature may quickly reach the set value for low-temperature preheating, but the EMC value does not reach the set value as quickly as the dry bulb temperature. If you want to increase the EMC value at this time, it is best not to rush to open the steam injection valve too early to solve the problem. Instead, control the dry bulb temperature steadily and use the wood surface to be heated, the inner wall of the drying kiln to cool and heat up, and the moisture generated by the drying medium as it gradually warms up to gradually increase the EMC value. This process is generally controlled within 5-7 hours. If the EMC value is still below the set value by more than 3 points after this time, the steam injection valve can be opened appropriately to spray steam into the drying kiln and increase the EMC value of the drying medium.
In winter, dried wood is prone to freezing, and the dry bulb temperature for low-temperature preheating is generally within the range of 25-35 ℃. The dry bulb temperature should be increased by 1 ℃ every 2 hours, and the wood should be slowly thawed before entering a dry state.
During the drying process, if it is found that the moisture content of the wood does not decrease or decreases slowly, there may be surface hardening of the wood, which hinders the outward movement of moisture. If it continues, it is easy for the wood to produce a wet core after drying. At this point, the wood should be treated with increased temperature and EMC value.
After drying, it is best to leave the wood in the drying kiln for 5-7 days. Close the heating valve, open the moisture discharge hole, and do not open the ventilation fan or forced moisture discharge fan in the kiln. Let the wood cool naturally to achieve a balanced and healthy effect.
